We started our day by visiting OBAT Primary School, Khalishpur, Khulna where we began by attending a guardian/parents meeting and had an interactive session where parents could ask us any questions. Parents consequently requested to increase capacity up to Secondary School Certificate (SSC) grades. Afterwards, during discussion with parents, they expressed some health concerns regarding their kids such as incidence of brain tumor, bone disease, eye disease and so on. Their parents requested us to do something for their children’s treatment; we referred some of them to Memorial Hospital (CSS).  Humayun Kabir, Project officer Khulna, is now looking into options for addressing the children’s ailments.
We also met some of the wonderful kids of grade five  and tutoring students who were reciting poems, singing songs, and making speeches at the same event, at OBAT Primary School. We were very pleased to hear that one of our previous primary students, Rubel, got the opportunity to be admitted to Bangabandhu School, Khulna; he attained the first position in class eight. We were also able to conduct a leadership session with kids and encourage them to do good work for our community.
Camp Visit: We next visited camps around Khulna and began by visiting camp number seven to assess the urgent needs in this camp. Continuing to follow up on the present condition of sanitation, we found that the condition of their sanitation/toilets is getting worst day by day. Female residents especially, suffer the most because of this condition. The most pressing need is to develop infrastructure and to repair  their toilets to  make them usable for the camp dwellers.
In the evening, we continued to the OBAT Khulna Sewing, Embroidery and Computer Center. These training centers create a great impact by  empowering females in the economic arena. We were amazed to see that one of our trainee’s, Jasmine Jubaida, had completed her sewing and computer training and currently continuing her training in embroidery. We were proud to meet with some amazing trainees who are very dedicated in learning and want to support their families by empowering themselves.
