Aquil Ahmed
Aquil Ahmed began his actuarial career with Mercer in 1983, a world-renowned Human resource Consulting firm and retired as Partner in 2009. During his 26 years of service at Mercer, he worked in various capacities including the delivering of all aspects of actuarial services relating to defined benefits and defined contributions. He was also U.S. leader for professional affairs for Mercer and head of the compliance department for retirement business at Mercer. Mr. Ahmed was also part of “Actuarial Resource Network�?, a national team of selected high level top technical actuaries who provided guidance to all Mercer staff on actuarial technical issues. His clients included corporate clients such as Fortune 500 companies, hospitals, educational institutions, and other not-for-profit organizations.
In 2010, Aquil Ahmed started Actuarial Retirement Services, LLC, (ARS) as an independent HR consulting firm located in Fairfax. ARS has a number of highly technical senior staff and provides creative solutions to defined benefit and defined contribution plan sponsors. He also assists clients in various compliance issues faced by HR such as enterprise risk management, conflict of interests, data privacy and security, diversity and handling of sexual harassment (Title IX Management) cases.
Mr. Ahmed has a Master‘s degree in Statistics. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and an Enrolled Actuary.
Mr. Ahmed is a member of the Executive Committee of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (CCA), also serving on the Board of the CCA, a member of the Professionalism Committee and Vice President of Continuing Education at CCA.
Mr. Ahmed has contributed to several retirement-related articles. He jointly wrote a booklet for the AARP on “Benefit Portability�?. He also contributed to the actuarial calculations for a book “Retirement Planning for Working Women�?.
Mr. Ahmed has spoken in many seminars arranged by the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, the Society of Actuaries, and other organizations.
