The Asian University for Women (AUW) is an independent and international university located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, whose goal is to produce leaders in various fields. The university has a rigorous merit-based admissions process, and most of the students are on full scholarship and many of them are the first in their families to attend university. Amrin was OBAT’s first scholarship program recipient to receive admission into AUW in early 2022 and is pursuing business studies there. She was recently joined by two more OBAT students, Mithe and Sharmin- we couldn’t be prouder!
Mithe’s father passed away a few years ago and her mother could not afford to support her education as she worked as a house maid. Mithe has been receiving a scholarship from OBAT since grade 10.
Sharmin has nine people in her family. Her father used to work in a jute mill but is now jobless due to the closure of jute mills. Sharmin finished her education from OBAT’s Primary School and went on to finish her high school and college as a scholarship student of OBAT.
Both the students have started their studies at AUW with the university’s fall cohort. We wish them both the very best! Thank you to our partners at AUW- we look forward to preparing dynamic female leaders and professionals who will add value to the future generations of their communities.
