“In 2009, I got admitted into Dhaka University- it was really tough for me to
survive. I was not a scholarship student back then. I had to fulfill all my
expenses by giving tuitions and working as faculty in coaching centers. In
2010, OBAT’s Project Manager, Mr. Sohail Akhter Khan suggested that I
should apply for financial assistance from OBAT. As I studied with the
scholarship I received from OBAT, I also worked as a Tutorial Coordinator of
OBAT’s Tutoring Centers from 2014 to 2015.

I also volunteered as a teacher at OBAT’s Tutoring Center in Rangpur.I
always tried my best to help underprivileged students because I knew their
pain, I had been in their place too.

OBAT stood by me again when I desired to do my Masters in Development
Studies from the University of Dhaka. The tuition fee was very high and it was
impossible for me to afford it- OBAT bore all of the expenses.”

Tarek is now working as a Senior Officer at Janata Bank Limited, the second-
largest government bank in Bangladesh.
