The Story

Zachary Rockwood, videographer, visited the camps in Bangladesh to create videos for OBAT. He had been once before, years prior.

What he discovered this time changed his life.

“It’d been seven years since I’d first set foot in the camps of Bangladesh, but the memories were still fresh in my mind,” said Zachary, “I could still recall the rich colors in the clothing, the aroma of the food, and the faces of the friends I’d made. However, I could also remember the tough conditions, the trash strewn about the streets, the smell of open sewers, the lack of bathrooms and showers, the difficulty in getting clean water..”

But this time, when Zachary went for a walk through the camps, he saw something entirely different.

“There was no trash on the ground, there were no open sewers, the showers were running, pipes carrying clean water ran all across the camp, and I swear every person we met was smiling,” Zachary explained with joy. “It’s not all better, living conditions are still tight, and whole families continue to squeeze into single rooms, but something was different.

Over the course of seven years Obat had made a significant change in the camp, there was a feeling of hope…
