Tariq Jaffery
Tariq Jaffery brings a wealth of expertise and a distinguished career in both public service and advanced scientific research. Since 2015, he served at the U.S. Department of Education, contributing his strategic vision and leadership. Prior to this role, Tariq worked as an engineering research physicist at three of the U.S. Department of Energy’s premier High Energy Particle Physics & Accelerator Laboratories: Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in Batavia, IL, the Superconducting Super Collider Laboratory (SSC) in Waxahachie, TX, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBL) at UC Berkeley, CA. His groundbreaking work also included an overseas assignment at KEK National Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan, where he focused on superconducting material and accelerator magnet technology.
In addition to his pioneering contributions to high-energy physics, Tariq designed a massively parallel processing (MPP) system capable of handling Petabytes of data and managing the $1.8 Trillion student loan portfolio-- a testament to his innovative approach and technical acumen.
