Ten year old Murtaza lives in San Jose, California and studies in grade four. In a world where phones and gadgets preoccupy the minds of kids, his tender thoughts are with impoverished children who live almost 10,000 miles away from him in Bangladesh.
Murtaza is the son of Mr. Tariq Iqbal and the grandson of OBAT’s advisor, Mr. Aftab Iqbal, both of whom have made immense contributions to making the lives of camp residents better.
Murtaza overheard his dad and grandfather discussing the outstanding results of OBAT’s students. He told his parents that he wanted to send a gift to all those students who had passed the exam from the money he had saved. As a result of this little boy’s blessed heart, $300 of his saved pocket money was distributed among 121 OBAT students so they could buy presents for themselves.
Everytime, Murtaza’s grandfather visits Bangladesh, this precious boy gives him his savings so that he can distribute it among the poor and orphans in the camps.
Murtaza, we are super proud of you and the immense kindness you have shown towards those who have much less. You are a shining star kiddo and will grow up to be an example of compassion to others around you. May you always soar high!
