“My life begins after I leave work in the medical field which is my livelihood. My real work begins by serving people at large, be it as a school crossing guard or as a prison counselor.” Faiz Fareed

My Journey to OBAT

I work in nuclear medicine by day and am a humanitarian at all other hours. Among other projects, I am leading the Friends of OBAT Chapter in North Carolina and am also serving on OBAT’s advisory board.  Currently, I am also serving as the Outreach Coordinator at the Islamic 4. Association of Raleigh in North Carolina.

I am passionate about providing relief to the poor and the needy, wherever the need might be. My motivation comes from the Prophet’s (PBUH) saying, “The most beloved people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people. The most beloved deed to Allah is to make a Muslim happy, or to remove one of his troubles, or to forgive his debt, or to feed his hunger.”

My passion for humanitarian work took me to the Rohingya camp in Bangladesh. I was equally concerned for children’s education in the poor and underserved communities which led me to work closely with OBAT Helpers.
