October offers lots of opportunities to appreciate, educate, and give back with so many days of recognition to observe. Our OBAT staff and students didn’t miss a beat! Here are just a few of the activities that were organized in the camps:

International Day Of Older Persons

A day of recognition and appreciation for the older people in our lives, OBAT’s Think Tank volunteers organized a joyful afternoon of light games, fun prizes, and food distributions to show their gratitude for the elderly residents of the camp communities!

World Food Day

In recognition of the importance of food security and good nutrition for all people, OBAT distributed 241 staple food packages among camp residents with developmental disabilities, focusing especially on families with special needs children. The distributions took place across six cities, ensuring hundreds of children have the food they need to thrive.

World Teachers Day
This year’s theme for World Teachers Day: “Teachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future” is truly exemplified by our incredible OBAT educators! The pandemic presented difficult new challenges for our teachers, but they have met and exceeded every expectation.

To honor them on this important day, several cities held special programs recognizing their tremendous value to the camp communities with plaques, gifts, and achievement awards.

Global Handwashing Day

A camp favorite year after year, this day held special significance this month due to the heightened hygiene protocols for COVID-19. In response, Khulna, Dhaka, and Rangpur Think Tanks organized handwashing awareness programs for the youth, ran art competitions with prizes, and even distributed soap amongst some of our poorest and most vulnerable community members.
