On this day, we say thank you to Sense Charter School for being a great partner. As OBAT’s beneficiary for its local project, “Rehma,” Sense has provided OBAT with the opportunity to contribute in the local community. OBAT finances tutors who provide tutoring to struggling students at the school. Most of the children at the Sense School are in need of assistance, financial and otherwise. OBAT is also initiating a pen pal program between the 2nd graders at Sense and those...
Twenty one year old Arshi was born in Geneva Camp. She still lives there with six other family members in a small hut. Her father’s job as an office assistant only got her as far as high school, where her studies were concerned. When Arshi witnessed her father’s predicament to make ends meet, she dropped out of undergraduate studies. Knowing that she was keen to study and was a very bright student, her father approached OBAT and requested...

Celebrate the upcoming National Philanthropy day with us! November 13th, the National Philanthropy day, is only a few days away. But we are thinking, why not celebrate the entire month of November instead of just one day to pay tribute to the spirit of charity all around us. A part of our celebration is to give back a little more. Join us as we collect gently used books for first to 6th graders at the Sense Charter School so the school can...
There could not be a more unique individual gracing this earth than Katie Basbagill. Unorthodox, passionate, effervescent and endearingly funny, Katie is true to the name of her photographic venture, “Bohemian Red Images-” Bohemian and red (hair) included. Her adventure through life as a photojournalist takes her to places like Cambodia, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe, where she photographs victims of natural and political calamities and tells their tales to the world through her work. Our paths crossed at an event at...
Charlie Wiles serves as the Secretary on OBAT’s board and we are truly fortunate to have him as a board member. He has been our rock and support at every turn and is always ready and willing to extend help wherever OBAT needs it. It is also really great to have a board member situated right across the room from us. Charlie is also the Executive Director at Center for Interfaith Cooperation. There is not much you can find wrong with a...
To say that we owe John Clark a lot is an understatement of gigantic proportions. John is a visiting assistant professor at SPEA but that’s not it. He is the founder of Indy Talks, Provocate and Alliance to name a few, author of several studies and books and much more. John plays a crucial role in bringing organizations, particularly non profits together and facilitates the accomplishment of their missions in every way he can. OBAT has benefited tremendously from his...
November 13th, the National Philanthropy day, is only 12 days away. But we are thinking, why not celebrate the entire month of November instead of just one day to pay tribute to the spirit of charity all around us. Hence, we are kicking off this month by celebrating it in two ways. Throughout the month of November, we will be intermittently honoring people/entities who provide us with the fuel to surge forward. These are people who give us their time, talent...
OBAT has won a $5,000 grant from Power of One Inc. to build a new tube well in Geneva Camp Dhaka. There are about thirty thousand people or 5,500 families living in Geneva Camp. The camp is faced with a serious scarcity of clean drinking water. The Water Supply Authority supplies water during late night when everyone is asleep, making collection of water impossible. Adding to the problem is a dearth of electricity and the ensuing load shedding...
Today is international day of the girl child. Girls at OBAT’s seven schools constitute 52% of the total population of students. Thank you dear supporters, for helping these girls reach for their dreams. ...
