November 13th, the National Philanthropy day, is only 12 days away. But we are thinking, why not celebrate the entire month of November instead of just one day to pay tribute to the spirit of charity all around us.
Hence, we are kicking off this month by celebrating it in two ways. Throughout the month of November, we will be intermittently honoring people/entities who provide us with the fuel to surge forward. These are people who give us their time, talent and expertise and who we are so very grateful to. We will also share stories from the camps of people whose unceasing will to defy the odds against them, gives us the impetus to do more and give them relief from their suffering.
The second part of our celebration is to give back a little more. Join us as we collect gently used books for first to 6th graders at the Sense Charter School so the school can start a library for its students. A school without a library, where kids don’t have recourse to books is a shame and goes against the institution’s principles of fostering learning.
Sense School also needs to stock its food pantry which exists to help the students’ families, most of whom are in a position to greatly benefit from it.
So, here’s hoping that you have books to part with and a few extra cans of food in your pantry that you would like to share with others. Please encourage your family and friends too and drop these items off either at OBAT’s office:
1100 W. 42nd St, ste. 125, Indianapolis 46208 or at
5998 Hall Rd.
Plainfield, IN 46168.
