Sana Hussain has more than a decade of experience working across the government, private, and nonprofit sectors developing partnerships, leading diverse teams, and identifying innovative solutions to achieve concrete outcomes. From 2009 to 2017 Sana served as a Presidential Political Appointee under the Obama Administration at the White House and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Sana currently serves as the Director of Business Development at World Business Chicago (WBC), where she supports businesses, drives economic growth, job creation, and promotes Chicago as a leading global city.

Prior to joining WBC, Sana was at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for seven years in various capacities. Sana was a Senior Peacebuilding and Conflict Advisor at USAID’s office of Conflict Management and Mitigation. She identified priorities for engagements in the Asia region, promoted cutting-edge conflict programming, and provided technical, operational and training support for development programs globally. Prior to that, Sana served as the Director of Strategic Planning for USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah where she led reviews of agency priorities, key initiatives, and developed outreach strategies. In her previous role, Sana was the Special Assistant for USAID’s Bureau of Asian Affairs. She provided strategic, political, technical, and management support for the development agenda in Asia and collaborated with government agencies and private industry to promote policy priorities.

Sana began her DC career at the White House, Office of Presidential Correspondence. She served on the leadership team that designed and implemented the Presidential correspondence plan. In here previous role, Sana worked in the United States Senate for then-Senator Barack Obama for two years in constituent services and outreach. Sana also worked on President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign in various capacities. Early on in her career she worked with the United Nations as a program manager in Islamabad, Pakistan. She also worked as a sales manager for Marshall Field & Company (now Macy’s) where she managed eight departments, thirty employees and over $20 million in merchandise.

Sana has her bachelor’s degree in public policy and marketing from Indiana University, Bloomington. A Chicago native, Sana spent 10 years in DC and returned to Chicago in July 2018 with her family.
