Meet OBAT’s Think Tank’s competent leadership
I started my journey with OBAT in 2011 as a student of the tutoring center in 10th grade. I passed my secondary school certificate (SSC) exam with a GPA of 4.63 or an A grade with the support of OBAT’s tutoring center as they provided me free tuition. After passing the SSC exam, I came to know about OBAT Think Tank and their activities; that made me eager to become a volunteer for OBAT Think Tank. In 2014, I passed my higher secondary certificate (HSC) exam and got admitted into a public university known as, Govt. Titumir College, Dhaka. This is my second year in their BBA program. I also became a volunteer teacher for OBAT Think Tank’s PEC (primary education certificate) program. After teaching my community’s children for about two years, I became the teacher for OBAT’s Dhaka Tutoring Center in 2016. OBAT leadership observed my activities and thought that I could play a role of a leader; the volunteers of Think Tank elected me a co-chairperson of OBAT Think Tank in 2016. I am now proudly serving my community’s people by providing different kinds of humanitarian aid.
My name is Dilruba Jaman Mitu. I am twenty one years old and live in Central Community Relief camp (CCR Camp) in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. I am a student of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific. This has only been possible because of the support of OBAT Helpers and Ahmad Foundation, both of whom are the partial sponsors of my studies. Besides being a student, I am also an assistant science teacher at OBAT’s tutoring center in Dhaka and am serving as a volunteer co-chair of OBAT’s Think Tank as well. I was able to get a golden A+ grade in both the SSC (Secondary School Certificate or middle school public exam) and HSC (High School Certificate or high school public exam). My GPA was also 5.0.
We are four family members, including my father, mother, younger brother and myself. My elder brother got married six years ago and lives separately. My father runs a small tea stall near the camp. He is struggling but able to meet our basic needs. However, it’s impossible for him to pay my university fee. My father’s only dream was getting his daughter educated but now it has been realized because of the joint support of OBAT Helpers and Ahmad foundation. If they had not helped me, I would not have been able to come so far.
