While many of us enjoy the warmth and festivities that accompany the winter season, for camp residents this time of year can be particularly harsh. The drafty makeshift homes, often with only a tarp as a roof and bamboo for the walls, provide little protection from frigid temperatures and exposure to the elements.
To provide relief against cold winter temperatures, OBAT will be distributing a total of 5,000 warm, winter blankets this season. Already, 1,650 blankets have been distributed to needy families throughout the cities of Ishurdi, Khulna, Dhaka and Rangpur. The remaining 3,350 blankets will be distributed early next year in Chittagong to ensure families have an added layer of warmth and protection in the winter months.
