Blood grouping campaign addresses emergency need for blood

OBAT’s Rangpur Clinic organized a blood grouping campaign  with the volunteer support of OBAT’s Rangpur Think Tank youth in order to cultivate awareness about the importance of knowing your blood group and also to identify individuals who can donate their blood for the impoverished camp community.

Since the clinic is also running a maternity project, emergency blood is sometimes needed during deliveries. Having a bank of donors available will increase the chances of a readily available and prompt supply of blood. The clinic plans to hold such campaigns on a regular basis to eventually cover all the camps in Rangpur. The program was a success under the supervision of Dr. Suriya Jabin (Physician of OBAT Health clinic). The blood groups of 155 people living in Camp 2 and NRC camp were identified as a result of this camp.
