The Sardar Bahadur Nagar Camp is a thickly populated camp located in the city of Chittagong. In 2020, OBAT installed a deep tube well in this camp to increase access to water for the camp residents. However, the women in the area faced great difficulty due to the lack of access to sanitation facilities. To fulfill this important need, OBAT has constructed a ladies’ bathroom measuring 10×10 ft. 40 families will have access to this bathroom. The women in the area have expressed deep gratitude:
“My name is Nargis Akhte. I live in SB Nagar School Camp. There was no ladies’ bathroom in our camp before. Now, a ladies’ bathroom has been built by OBAT Helpers, which is a great comfort for us. It is also a great advantage for us that the bathroom is built beside the deep tube well and rainwater harvesting project.”
“My name is Akhi Akhtar. I used to wash my clothes on the street. Now, I am very comfortable and feel safe in this bathroom.”
