If you were to visit Bangladesh, you would see most men wearing a loose tunic or Kurta, locally known as “Panjabi.” OBAT’s Institute of Women Empowerment in Chittagong sought to enhance the skill set of its students who had been previously trained to stitch clothing for women through a 3-month course. All students were trained to stitch Panjabis. Sewing Panjabis would provide them with an option to expand their services when they start using their sewing skills to start small businesses. There were many happy family members around as all of the students got to take their final product homes for their fathers, brothers, or husbands.
