The first doctor from the camps continues to impress us!

Abul Kashem, the first doctor from the camps, continues to make us proud!

It is with great joy and pride that we share that Dr. Abul Kashem just passed his FCPS-I and BCS exams. This will allow him to continue his education in medicine and obtain a job in the national service as a medical doctor in Rangpur.

The FCPS (Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons) is a professional membership body dedicated to improving the practice of medicine, chiefly through the accreditation of doctors by examination, so that they can continue with their different fields of specialization. This year, approximately 4,800 students took part in the FCPS-I exam. Among them, 410 students passed in medical faculty. The challenging exam is conducted consecutively over a three day period.

The Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), on the other hand, is a nationwide, competitive exam in Bangladesh, conducted by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) for recruitment to the various Bangladesh Civil Service cadres, including BCS (Admin), BCS (Taxation), BCS (Customs and Excise), BCS (Foreign Affairs), and BCS (Police), among others.

The Civil Services examination of Bangladesh is considered one of the toughest exams in the country. This year, 31,000 doctors appeared in the preliminary written examinations. After the viva (oral) examination, only 4,000 candidates were recommended to obtain jobs in their different fields as medical doctors.

“OBAT helped me financially so I could prepare for both exams. OBAT was always beside me to support and believe in my potential. The next step is that the government will employ me in my Upazila Health Complex as a Medical Officer for 2 years. After that, I can join my medical college and hospital as an Indoor Medical Officer (IMO). While working in Medical College and Hospital, I can start my FCPS training. I will also do an MD residency degree in Cardiology, God-willing.

Please keep me in your prayers so that almighty God makes things easy for me. Whatever I am today is because of your support of OBAT.” – Dr. Abul Kashem.

We are very proud of these amazing accomplishments of Dr. Kashem and wish him a great future ahead. Thank you to all the donors for making this possible!
